Burning a Peat Briquette in a Heavy Duty Grover Rocket Stove Review

Joel M. from Texas -- "I just finished making my first meal with a Grover Rocket Stove, from stockstorage.com in Springville, Utah. It is a heavy duty stove with welded construction, and it is guaranteed to last for life. I believe it will. With a small handful of scrap wood, I grilled an onion and cooked 10 boneless pork chops. This is an amazing device. It is fast and easy to light, and puts out more heat than a gas stove burner, with very little smoke. When I was done cooking, I pushed the wood scraps all of the way into the burn chamber, and let the stove finish them off. Done, quick and easy. This is a campstove that can go anywhere, and burn the small sticks and branches that other campers do not bother to pick up. Using it saves the cost of propane and/or Coleman fuel. I don’t know of any “downside” to this rocket stove. Here’s how it works: under the wood feed tray is an air vent, which brings fresh air under the fire. As the fire heats the insulated chimney, it forms a spiral flow, which draws a vacuum through the air vent, which greatly increases the heat of the fire. This, then, draws even more air, and the result is a very hot, almost smokeless fire. If you are looking for a camping/emergency type stove, and don’t want to ever pay for and store fuel, this is the best there is."

Alice and Dick H. from TN. -- "We LOVE our rocket stove. We made spaghetti this morning... yummmmmmmmmmy! Not pictured is the McCormick thick and zesty spice packets and the green ice tea that we used as liquid for the sauce...salt and pepper...grated Parmesan cheese. We cooked the noodles first, removed them from the pot and then cooked the sauce."

Richard K from Texas - "I bought my Grover stove a couple of months ago, now, after looking at several brands, and watching various videos on YouTube. Like others, I was surprised at the substantial 'feel' of it. It doesn't look heavy! I purchased mine because I live on the Texas Gulf Coast; when Hurricane Ike came through in 2008 I was without electricity for three weeks, and quickly ran out of charcoal for my grill. I was reminded this year that I'd done nothing at all to prepare for that sort of outage again--and it will happen again, here. The handle on the side is great for lifting and moving the stove; I have a very bad back and can't bend to the ground to lift something like this, but the handle makes it easy. Following some of the videos I've seen, I soon had a healthy little fire going in mine, certainly sufficient to cook. And yes, I've cooked more than a dozen times in mine on my back patio, because the time to learn isn't when you absolutely need it! Compared to the manufacturing quality of a barbecue grill anywhere in this price range, the Grover will win hands-down. I have never seen any other brands real-time to handle them, but I can't imagine how they could beat this Grover. It ain't the prettiest, but who cares? I'm more concerned about durability and ease of use. The money I spent on my rocket stove was a great investment. I'm glad I didn't know about the bigger model or I probably would've bought it even though this is a perfect size. I'd love to see you all develop a briquet insert for my model, though, I'd buy it out of curiosity if nothing else. Thanks again!"

Robert M. from Canada - "Hi, I am really pleased with my Grover rocket stove, it performs exactly as promised (an increasingly rare trait these days). I’d like to order one for a friend; we’re just back from fishing at his island cabin, and I was singing the praises of your stove. Many Thanks!"
